Marilyn Fuhrer Obituary

Marilyn Marie Fuhrer

Born May 7, 1927, daughter of John and Caryl Woods, sister to Ralph, Marilyn raised five children and enjoyed spending time with her ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Marilyn had an unshakeable faith in our Heavenly Father and loved reading her Bible. Over the years, she played the organ and sang in the choir of multiple churches. Marilyn was known for her sense of humor. She loved her black coffee and her Saltine crackers. As a life-long avid reader, Marilyn enjoyed mysteries the most. She also liked collecting recipes and cooking, word-finds, jigsaw puzzles, and watching British television shows. In the 1990s, Marilyn completed a years-long genealogy project during which she discovered a paternal half-brother and sister, John Arthur and Bernice Trussler (deceased). She and John Arthur met and kept in communication until his passing. Julie Boggie, Nicholas (Sasha Francis) Boggie, and Jessica (Kirk) Brady (Penelope and Finnegan) truly appreciate the loving family and friends who spent Marilyn's last days visiting with and praying over her. Marilyn passed peacefully at her daughter's home, with her beloved Tucker as a constant companion by her side. Marilyn passed on 3:16, and those who mourn her may find comfort in that same chapter and verse in the Book of John. The family is grateful to the OSF nurses and Hospice Care Team who helped make her last days comfortable. Marilyn's service will be led by her grandson, Pastor Gary Fuhrer Jr., a beautiful testament to the legacy of faith she leaves behind. Visitation will be held at 10:30 with a service at 11:15 at Soul's Harbor Church, 2802 11th Street in Rockford on March 23, 2024. In lieu of flowers, memorials for final expenses are appreciated.
